The programs within the section cover a wide range of basic and applied research activities including metal nanoparticle and carbon nanotube compositions, high temperature polymers, nanotube nanodevices, inorganic-organic hybrid coatings for aircraft towline decoy usage, peptide nanotube polymers, air filtration nanostructured carbonaceous materials, and high temperature insulation materials for railgun applications. Carbon nanotube and metal nanparticle carbonaceous compositions are being formulated in the solid phase. Novel high temperature polymers are being synthesized, characterized, and developed for applications up to 500oC in an oxidizing environment.
