Grant Programs 

Predoctoral Training in Primary Care
Funds the planning, development, operation, or participation (including financial assistance to students) in predoctoral programs in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics.


Residency Training in Primary Care
Funds the planning, development, operation, or participation (including financial assistance to residents) in approved residency programs in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics.


Physician Faculty Development in Primary Care
Funds the planning, development, and operation (including financial assistance to trainees) of programs that train physicians to teach family medicine (including geriatrics), general internal medicine, or general pediatrics. The focus is on creating four types of physician faculty: primary care clinician researchers, master educators, faculty leaders, and/or community preceptors.


Academic Administrative Units in Primary Care
Funds the establishment, maintenance, or improvement of academic administrative units that provide clinical instruction in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics.


Physician Assistant Training in Primary Care
Funds the planning, development, operation, and maintenance of programs that train physician assistants and prepare students to train physician assistants.


Interdisciplinary and Interprofessional Joint Graduate Degree
Funds the planning, development and operation of joint degree programs to provide interdisciplinary and interprofessional graduate training in public health and other health professions to provide training in environmental health, infectious disease control, disease prevention and health promotion, epidemiological studies, and injury control.


National Research Service Award for Primary Medical Care
Funds the development or enhancement of research training for individuals, selected by the institution, who are training for careers in primary medical care research. 


Primary Care Residency Expansion
Supports the increase in number of residents trained in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics physician residency programs.


Expansion of Physician Assistant Training
Supports students in two-year physician assistant training programs who intend to enter primary care practice.
