The Social Security Administration is proud to implement the policy of the President's Executive Order 13360 , which establishes procurement preferences for small business concerns owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans.  We thank them for their service to our country.

Program Information

In order to obtain government contracts, there are certain basic requirements that any business must meet.  We have provided links to a variety of websites that will assist you in starting a business, becoming a government contractor, and finding federal business opportunities.  There is also specific information and answers to questions about the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business program, and websites of interest to veterans.

Army Veteran-Owned Service-Disabled Business Page - This website provides information that is applicable to doing business with any government agency.  The "Primer for Disabled Veterans Wanting To Do Business With The Federal Government"  provides basic training about how to position your business to become a contributor to the federal government.

Small Business Administration (SBA)- Provides detailed information and assistance to veterans seeking to start and develop small businesses.

Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) - Local resource centers who assist companies in marketing their products and services to the Federal, state and local government at little or no cost to small business.

System for Award Management (SAM) - This is the primary vendor database for Federal government acquisition missions.  All prospective contractors must be registered in the SAM database in order to be awarded a Federal contract.

Federal Business Opportunities - This is the single point-of-entry for all Federal Government procurement opportunities exceeding $25,000 (also known as FedBizOpps).

Center for Veterans Enterprise (VetBiz) - This is a Federal web portal for Veterans in business that provides registration as a veteran-owned business, information on starting a business, assistance programs, and other business-related information.

The Veterans Corporation - A website for current and prospective Veterans and Service-Disabled Veteran business owners and companies interested in working with Veteran-owned businesses.

Department of Veterans Affairs - Provides information on health care, benefits and programs to Veterans.

Disabled American Veterans - A non-profit, non-government organization offering services to disabled veterans and their families.

SSA Disability Programs - A Social Security Administration link to information on qualifying and applying for Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income.
