On the Day of your Interview

On the day of your interview:

  • You will need to arrive at the Embassy on the day of your interview at least a half hour prior to your appointment to allow you time to clear security.  It is important that you follow these instructions to avoid delays in the processing of your visa application.  Once you arrive in the consular section, the consular staff will collect your documentation, photographs and biometric information and then you will have an interview with a Consular Officer.  You should not expect to receive your visa on the day of your interview, however.
  • Effective October 1, all immigrant visa applicants must complete the online DS-260 application form.  This electronic form replaces the paper DS-230 form. You do not need to complete both.  In addition, all K (fiancée) visa applicants must complete the electronic DS-260 and the DS-156 and DS-156-K form prior to the scheduled interview date.  These forms can be found on the Department of State’s website at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html.
  • Visa applications will not be processed and interviews will not be conducted for those who have not paid the appropriate visa fee.  Fees that are not paid through the National Visa Center (NVC) must be paid in US dollars (cash only) on the morning of the interview. Please confirm prior to your interview that your fees have already been paid.  SQ-SIV applicants are exempt from interview and application fees; all other applicants must pay a visa application fee prior to their interviews.  A list of fees is located at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html.
