Rick Brackett

Mr. Rick Brackett

Rick Brackett III is currently serving as the Deputy to the Commander at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. In this capacity, he exercises executive leadership, provides policy and programmatic oversight to the broad range of installation programs and represents the commander in his absence.

He is responsible for managing the day-to-day base operations for the installation and tenant activities and for providing administrative program direction to various directors and special staff in finance, logistics, police and fire services, information technology, housing, engineering and environmental, community activities, family programs and in the personnel arena. Additionally he works with surrounding public leaders to promote community relations and negotiating common interests and services, and other partnership efforts of mutual benefit.

Previously, Mr. Brackett was the Director of Logistics for Fort Devens, Massachusetts.  He was responsible for providing essential logistical support services for the installation, and all U. S. Army and U. S. Army Reserve units in the six New England states as well as for all tenant agencies and organizations. His duties included providing administrative direction and management of the Maintenance, Supply and Services, Plans and Operations, Transportation and Resource Management divisions sharing the commander’s responsibility for the sustaining base.

His service as a Soldier spanned thirty years in the United States Army Reserve and included assignments at Company, Battalion and Group level with deployments to five foreign countries. He retired in 2003 at the rank of Sergeant Major.

Mr. Brackett earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Suffolk University in Boston. In addition to his outstanding performance awards, he is a 2009 recipient of the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. Mr. Brackett is the President of the Minuteman Chapter of the Association of the United States Army in Massachusetts.
