ACTIVITY!

There's a relatively new "Zip Line Park" in Warmensteinach in the Fichtelgebirge (location on Google Maps <http://maps.google.de/maps?q=Warmensteinach&hl=en&ll=49.953871,11.703186&spn=0.299534,0.54245&sll=51.151786,10.415039&sspn=18.731791,17.973633&vpsrc=6&t=m&z=11> )

If you speak German:

Here's some info <http://www.br-online.de/studio-franken/aktuelles-aus-franken/landkreis-wundsiedel-ziplinepark-ochsenkopf-ID1315494746805.xml>  by the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) - the clip at the bottom shows a bit about it, at ca. 1:06 minutes. It's easier if you open the clip in a pop-out window <http://www.br-online.de/bayerisches-fernsehen/frankenschau-aktuell/filmpreview-fichtelgebirge-video-ID1315483015536.xml> .

There is also something on YT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCpq3KjFp5Q

And here's their website: http://www.ziplinepark.info/ziplinepark/

Although more pertinent info is available on Warmensteinach's Homepage <http://www.warmensteinach.de/Ziplinepark-am-Ochsenkopf-Fleckl.ochsenkopf1.0.html> .

But like I said, it's all in German.

A tip mentioned in the BR video: for a family day trip with children, the Wild Bird Park <http://www.zoo-infos.de/set.html?/zoos/743.html>  in Wunsiedel might be a fun attraction.

General Info

Bavarians are friendly, but they may appear rude to you, but that is just they way they are. If you need help or if you are lost, just ask. Everybody is more than happy to give you a hand. If you drive through villages, make sure you slow down. Otherwise, adjust to the more likely fast pace of traffic in Germany. Never stop on the Autobahn, especially not in the middle of road. If you missed an exit, just take the next one and turn around. The train and public transportation system in Europe is pretty good; get an offer for your next trip at www.db.de (click on the english flag or contact your local Deutsche Bahn Travel Agency).
