Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Conduct basic research in the area of materials science using a variety of state-of-the art computer simulation methods based on quantum mechanical principles. The focus of the modeling will be on materials and chemical reactions that occur on them. The modeling will include analysis of structural, reactivity, energetic and dynamical properties of the materials for energy applications.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge in computational materials science, physics and other simulation methodologies. Considerable skill in formulating scientific issues. Considerable skill in designing experiments, research facilities, and/or theories to address relevant scientific issues. Considerable skill in understanding abstract concepts and in synthesizing knowledge.
  Other
This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in physics at the Ph.D. level or equivalent in the application of this scientific knowledge through practical experience. Ph.D. must have been received in the last three years or expected in the next six months.
