Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Under the guidance of a supervisor, the effort will be devoted to the development and application of ab initio theoretical chemical kinetics to the study of the effect of dynamics in the van der Waals region on the chemical kinetics of nitrogen containing molecules. Particular emphasis will be on the kinetics of reactions of propellants and explosives containing representative amine, nitramine, nitrate ester, and/or nitro groups.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Considerable experience in at least one or more of the following areas: electronic structure theory, theoretical chemical kinetics, and theoretical chemical dynamics. Considerable communication skills are a must.
  Good
Good knowledge of gas phase chemical physics and physical chemistry.
  Other
This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in physical chemistry at the Ph.D. degree level with zero to three years of experience or equivalent in the scientific application of this knowledge and practical laboratory experience.
