MCSC financial manager earns Ph.D.

Lance Raymond earns Ph.D.

It was one of the most selfish decisions he ever made, but when Lance Raymond set out to earn his doctorate in organizational leadership, he knew he had to be "all in." The Marine Corps veteran turned civilian Marine enrolled in the program through The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in January 2010. In December 2012, he officially added the letters "Ph.D." to the end of his name.

MCSC employees receive Copernicus Award


Marine Corps Systems Command employees – one at Quantico, Va., and another at Camp Pendleton, Calif. – have been named Copernicus Award recipients for accomplishments in their areas of expertise. The Copernicus Award is presented annually for individual contributions to naval warfare in command, control, communications, computers and intelligence, information systems and information warfare. The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and U.S. Naval Institute awarded 31 Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard active-duty military and civilians for superior performance in those fields in 2012.

MCSC engineer earns President's Call to Service Award

A Marine Corps Systems Command volunteer has given back to his community so much that it has been noticed by the White House. David Garvin, an MCSC engineer, volunteered more than 800 hours last year, which pushed him past 4,000 volunteer hours for his lifetime. His willingness to help earned him a 2012 gold-level President's Volunteer Service Award, his sixth consecutive award, and the President's Call to Service Award for lifetime achievement.
