Information regarding Congressman Royce's ninth annual "Congressional High School Art Competition" is now available.
All interested high school artists in the 39th Congressional district may participate by submitting their entries no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 to Royce's office in Brea, located at 210 W Birch Street, Suite 201.
Royce's eighth annual Congressional High School Art Competition winner was Heather Choi from Placentia. Choi demonstrated her artistic talents with an acrylic painting titled "Bright America."
The Congressional High School Art Competition is an opportunity to showcase the talents of the many creative high school students in Orange County. All local high school students are encouraged to submit their favorite piece of artwork for the competition. The contest is a part of a nationwide Congressional High School Art Competition sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus. The winning piece of art from Royce's district joins winners from other Congressional districts around the country and is displayed in the Cannon House Office Building Tunnel, a high-traffic pedestrian walkway leading to the United States Capitol Building.
Courtesy of Southwest Airlines, winners are provided complimentary airfare to fly to Washington, D.C. to see their art displayed in the Capitol Building during an unveiling ceremony in June. In addition, my office is more than happy to assist in arranging a variety of tours for the winner and his/her parents, including a meeting with me in my Washington DC office. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Royce's office at (714) 255-0101.
Please be sure to use the following links for a list of rules regarding the contest. Artwork that does not comply with the rules, is submitted after the deadline and is not submitted with the proper forms will not be accepted.
