Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
E
qual Employment Opportunity (EEO) refers to programs and requirements designed to eliminate discrimination in the workplace. EEO applies to employers, employees, and applicants. In the case of the North Dakota National Guard (NDNG), EEO applies to civilian employees and applicants. Individuals with discrimination complaints related to military status and applicants for membership in the NDNG or for duty as Active Guard/Reserve are covered by the Equal Opportunity Program.Â
Federal law prohibits workplace discrimination. These laws protect individuals against employment discrimination when it involves any of the following:
Unfair treatment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
Harassment by managers, co-workers, or others in your workplace, because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
Denial of a reasonable workplace accommodation that is needed because of religious beliefs or disability.
Retaliation because of a complaint about job discrimination or assisting with a job discrimination investigation or lawsuit.
