A message from Ambassador Namm

Welcome to the Business section of the official website of the U.S. Embassy in Quito, Ecuador!

The United States and Ecuador enjoy a robust and growing commercial relationship.  U.S. exports to Ecuador totaled almost $6 billion in 2011, while U.S. imports from Ecuador were more than $10 billion.  With its petroleum and mineral wealth, strong agricultural and fisheries sector, expanding infrastructure, growing incomes, and a population of over 14 million, Ecuador offers numerous opportunities for the sale of U.S. products.

All overseas markets have their unique challenges and opportunities, but both the Embassy in Quito and the Consulate General in Guayaquil stand ready to assist U.S. firms in developing successful commercial relationships with Ecuadorian partners.  Whether you are exploring the Ecuadorian market for the first time or looking to expand current sales, I encourage you to make use of the resources on this website and to contact us if you have specific questions.

In particular, I recommend reading our Country Commercial Guide, a comprehensive reference on the commercial and investment landscape in Ecuador.  I also encourage Ecuadorian firms seeking U.S. products and connections with U.S. businesses to review the information provided on upcoming U.S. trade shows and investment opportunities in the United States.

We hope the information you find here will be helpful in assessing potential opportunities.  The U.S. Embassy in Quito and the Consulate General in Guayaquil look forward to supporting U.S. firms in strengthening our bilateral commercial partnership with Ecuador.
Adam E. Namm, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador
