U.S. Embassy Condemns Suicide Attack in Hangu

Targeted Attacks during Muharram are particularly vicious

Islamabad - The United States Embassy in Pakistan strongly condemns Friday's suicide attack at a hospital in Hangu, which reportedly killed and wounded dozens of people. The deliberate targeting of innocents is reprehensible at any time; the fact that this attack took place during the holy month of Muharram makes it particularly cruel. We hope to see those responsible for this attack - and the three other major attacks last week - brought to swift justice.

Our deepest sympathies are with the families of the victims. The people of the United States will stand by Pakistanis as they continue working to bring peace and stability to their country.
