Jan 20 Webchat On Freedom Of Expression And "Defamation Of Religion"

Washington - To recognize Religious Freedom Day (January 16), join two experts for a global talk about "defamation of religion" and what it means in the international political context. This webchat will take place on January 20 at 8:00 pm (Pakistan Standard Time), 10 a.m. EST (15:00 GMT).

Salam Al-Marayati is the executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). He speaks and writes extensively on Islam, human rights, democracy and Middle East politics. He also serves as an adviser to several political and civilian institutions seeking to understand the role of Islam and Muslims in America and throughout the world.

Dr. Philippa Strum is a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Previously, she served as director of U.S. studies at the Woodrow Wilson Center and was the Broeklundian professor of political science at the City University of New York. A prolific author, she is an expert on U.S. constitutional law and government, civil liberties, human rights and women's issues.
