This morning at Montreal's Trudeau Airport, Ambassador David Jacobson spoke to the press to highlight the new NEXUS dedicated screening lane program at airports across Canada. Beginning on February 15, 2012, Canadian and American citizens who are members of the NEXUS program traveling to the United States from Canada's largest airports -- including Trudeau Airport -- are able to use special trusted traveler express screening lanes operated by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA).

"These are changes that will make real differences in the lives of citizens of Canada and the United States. Changes that will facilitate commerce. And changes that will create jobs while making all of us safer," stated Ambassador Jacobson.

Established in 2002, NEXUS is a joint U.S.-Canada program that allows pre-screened, approved travelers faster processing. When travelling by air, NEXUS speeds up border clearance by offering members expedited passage by using self-serve kiosks. The designated security screening lanes for NEXUS members travelling domestically and now to the United States are implemented by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and Transport Canada in cooperation with the Canada Border Services Agency, the Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
