III MEF Command Inspector General

MISSION

The mission of the III MEF Inspector General’s office is to promote combat readiness, integrity, efficiency, effectiveness, and credibility through impartial and independent inspections, assessments, inquiries,investigations, and teaching and training.

The IG’s functions are:

Investigations

Investigations are fact-finding examinations into allegations of impropriety by an individuals or an adverse condition that affects the command climate. The CIG may investigate any violation of law, policy, or ethical standards. All investigations will be conducted in an independent and professional manner, without command influence, pressure, orfear of reprisal from any level.

Inspections

The III MEF CIG is an extension of the eyes, ears, voice,and conscience of the III MEF Commanding General. The purpose of inspections is to assess,assist, and enhance the ability of a command to prepare for and to perform its assigned mission.

FILE A COMPLAINT

STEP 1: Determine the best method to address your issue

- Complainants are encouraged to attempt to resolve their issue using their chain of command.

        o Discuss the specific matter with members in yourchain of command such as the legal staff, chaplain, equal opportunity advisor, yourimmediate supervisor, and commanding officer.

- If you are unable to resolve the matter usingthe chain of command, you may consider filling a formal grievance. The following grievances may be considered bythe military member:

        o Complaint of Wrongs Against the Commanding Officer (Article 138)

        o Redress of Wrong Committed by a Superior (Article 1150)

        o Equal Opportunity (EO)

STEP 2: Review the frequently asked questions in order to have sufficient information on the process of a hotline complaint

STEP 3: Prepare your complaint for submission to a Command Inspector General

- Fill out the required hotline complaint form to the best of your ability.

- Submit your complaint to the Command Inspector General of your command via email or walk-in.
