Lieutenant General Theodore C. Nicholas IITheodore Nicholas small, USA

LTG Theodore C. Nicholas received his commission in the Military Intelligence Branch in 1978 through the ROTC program at Western Kentucky University. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Partner Engagement at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Previous assignments include Signals Intelligence Military Deputy Director at the National Security Agency; J2 United States Forces-Iraq; and the Director, Defense Counterintelligence and HUMINT Center Deputy Director, Defense Joint Intelligence Operations Center at the Defense Intelligence Agency. J2/Deputy C2/Deputy U2 for US Forces Korea/Combined Forces Command/United Nations Command in Seoul, Korea; G2 XVIIIth Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg; C/J2 Combined Joint Task Force-180 in Bagram, Afghanistan.

LTG Nicholas has served in a variety of command and staff assignments in the United States and Korea. His command assignments include Commander 313th Military Intelligence Battalion (Airborne), 82nd Airborne division and Commander 501th Military Intelligence Brigade in Korea. Other staff assignments include Imagery Analyst, Defense Intelligence Agency, Brigade S2 Observer/Controller, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and later G2, JRTC and Fort Polk in Louisiana, and J2, Special Operations Command Pacific in Hawaii.

LTG Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. His military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses, the Tactical Surveillance Officer’s Course, the Defense Sensor Interpretation and Training Program, the US Army Command and General Staff College and the Air War College.

LTG Nicholas’s awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal (3-OLC), Legion of Merit (OLC), Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2-OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3-OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Joint Service Achievement Medal. With 13 years on jump status he is a Jump Master and authorized to wear the Master Parachutist Badge. He is also authorized to wear the Ranger Tab and the Air Assault Badge.

Foreign awards include the German Presidential Badge, the ROK Cheonsu National Security Medal and the ROK Samil National Security Merit Medal.

He has also been awarded the Director of National Intelligence, National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal.

LTG Nicholas is married to the former Jennifer Miller of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
