Reclamation is a contemporary water management agency. Reclamation is best known for Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River and Folsom Dam on the American River. -Serves as a protective coating materials engineering technician
-Performs tests requiring the selection and modification of equipment in accordance with test programs developed by others.
-Prepares test samples by cutting to appropriate size, buffing to specified roughness, and painting samples with required coating.
-Tests samples with appropriate testing procedures, prepares logs and records data.
-Responsibility of quality control of testing by preparing and numbering samples, scheduling and carrying out tests and maintaining records.
-Assist instructors in coatings technology training courses and workshops.

All applicants must possess one year of specialized experience. To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined below: GS-7 - One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal Government.  DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: to meet specialized experience. your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
GS-07: Experience in research and testing of materials using specific lab equipment and specified testing methods while maintaining records and data from these tests. Must also have experience in maintaining lab equipment and keeping it working properly. 
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may also qualify on the basis of education as follows: GS-7 - One year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. The degree must be in the appropriate field of engineering and must directly relate to the work of the position. Applicants may qualify by combining education and experience provided the combination of experience and education is equivalent in complexity to the next lower-grade in the Federal Service.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position.  If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories:  1)  Best Qualified, 2) Well Qualified and 3) Qualified.  Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and Veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category.  The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete. Applicants will be further evaluated on the following "Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)" through your resume and responses to the online questions.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:
