  2. The Washington Office of the Bureau of Reclamation is closed on Monday, October 29, 2012, due to Hurricane Sandy. All other offices of the Bureau of Reclamation are operating on a normal work schedule.
  3. 2012 C.A.S.T. (Catch a Special Thrill) for Kids/Let’s Move Outside was a great success for Reclamation’s Boulder City office. One unanticipated event at C.A.S.T for Kids involved a young boy named Richard (not pictured), who was not part of...
    the event, but was at the dock with his mother and grandfather. He accidently fell into the lake and Warren Wagner, a C.A.S.T. volunteer from the Nevada Striper Club, almost immediately jumped into the water and saved the 4-year-old boy. http://on.doi.gov/RkFUNt

The Department of the Interior has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities that provides a cooperative framework for Interior and HACU to develop programs that engage the Hispanic community and Hispanic-Serving Institutions. Reclamation Awards $7.8 Million Contract for Guernsey Dam Modification - Guernsey Dam is scheduled to undergo modifications in relation to work being performed at Glendo Dam, located 25 miles upstream from Guernsey. The modifications are in response to Reclamation's safety of dams recommendations and will ensure structural integrity of Glendo and Guernsey Dams should a large flood event occur. http://on.doi.gov/RAOKnz

This is the first urban wildlife refuge in the southwest and Reclamation owns part of the senior water rights.
