The New Hampshire National Guard provides a number of programs and incentives for Guard members to continue their education. These programs include tuition waiver and assistance programs, scholarships, living expense assistance, and free specialized training. College First: The College First enlistment option provides applicants who have no prior military service the opportunity to serve in the Army National Guard and complete up to two years of full time schooling. Applicants that enlist for 6 or 8 years are eligible for two years of stabilization (non-deployable status), and applicants that enlist for 3 or 4 years are eligible for one year of stabilization.
NHNG Enlisted Association Scholarship: The NHNGEA awards one $500, one $300 and one $200 scholarship annually. For more information or to apply, please download the NHNGEA Scholarship Application.
M.A. in Homeland Defense and Security: National Guard members are eligible for a tuition-free Homeland Defense and Security Master's Degree Program, sponsored by the US Dept. of Homeland Security for Domestic Preparedness at the Naval Postgraduate School. Troops to Teachers: Troops to Teachers helps recruit quality teachers for K-12 schools that serve low-income families throughout America. Troops to Teachers helps relieve teacher shortages in areas such as math, science, and special education while assisting military personnel as they transition to second careers in teaching.
