Mission of the Honor Guard

New Hampshire's Honor Guard exists to provide dignified military funeral honors to all eligible veterans. The New Hampshire Military Funeral Honors Program was established in December 2006. Statewide, our teams are providing Military Funeral Honors for more than 40 veterans each month.

"Honoring Those Who Served" allows a grateful nation to pay final tribute to veterans who, in times of war and peace, stood strong in defense of the United States of America. When available, an honor guard detail for the burial of an eligible veteran consists of not less than two members of the Armed Forces. At least one member of the detail is a representative of the parent service of the deceased veteran.

This service is provided to veterans with an Honorable Discharge at no cost to their families or the funeral homes. Families should make requests for honors through the funeral director.

New Hampshire State's soldiers are honored to provide these services for our veterans and their families. The Honor Guard teams take great pride in their appearance and the performance of this duty. Our teams perform the departed soldier's final honors, play "Taps," and fold and present the flag to the next of kin. If the deceased Veteran is eligible, we also perform firing party and Color Guard duties. If YOU have what it takes and want the privilege, you too may be able to be a member of the NH Military Forces Honor Guard.

For Funeral Directors

If you would like to request Military Funeral Honors please fill out Sections 1 through 4 on the Burial Request form below via fax or email along with the required documents listed in Section 4 (DD Form 214 and one of the following Statement of Service or Twenty Year Letter if available).
