    Commanding General, 5th Signal Command and United States Army Europe (USAREUR) CIO/G6

    Brigadier General Bruce T. Crawford assumed duties as the 19th Commander of 5th Signal Command and became the Chief Information Officer/G6 for United States Army Europe on 25 July 2011.

    Brigadier General Crawford’s prior assignment was as the Director, Chief of Staff Army Coordination Group, Office of the Chief of Staff, Army, Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he served as Chief, LandWarNet Integration Division, Chief Information Office, G6, Pentagon, Washington, DC.

    A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Brigadier General Crawford was commissioned on 28 May 1986 after graduating with a Bachelor in Science in Electrical Engineering from South Carolina State University. He also holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

    His principal staff assignments have been as Assistant Operations Officer and later the Corps Operations Officer for 35th Signal Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Saudi Arabia; Plans Officer, later Chief, Plans and Engineering Branch, Joint Communications Support Element, United States Central Command; Assistant Division Signal Officer, later Deputy Division G6, later Executive Officer for 82d Signal Battalion, 82d Airborne Division; LTC’s Assignment Officer, later COL’s Assignment Officer, Signal Corps, United States Total Army Personnel Command in Alexandria, Virginia; Chief, Net Centric Assessments and Analysis Branch, later Executive Assistant to the J6 in Washington D.C.

    Brigadier General Crawford commanded B Company, 51st Signal Battalion, 35th Signal Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 82d Signal Battalion, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and the 516th Signal Brigade, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

    Brigadier General Crawford has attended the Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

    Brigadier General Crawford's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
