This timelapse video shows the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Photon Source (APS) rising from an empty field at Argonne National Laboratory to become the source of the Western Hemisphere's brightest x-rays for research. The video was compiled from still photographs taken from 1990-1996 (with the current APS shown in the final frame). For best quality, select 480p or 720p.
