1/26/2010 - Al Udeid AB, Qatar -- On December 6, 2009 the Air Force Reserves sponsored a morale event at Al Udeid AB, Qatar that included the Air Force Reserve Band, comedian Carlos Mencia, singers Jessie James and Kid Rock.
In conjunction with their performances they visited different areas of the base to include the flight line. In preparation for the flight line visit, tanker maintenance selected Nebraska aircraft 57-1461 as the KC-135R to be displayed. The aircraft' s pristine condition and appearance when compared to 27 other tankers led to this decision.

2/7/2011 9:17:21 AM ET I loved reading this story as I was the crew chief on 57-1461 from 1979-1984 when she was stationed at Barksdale AFB La 8th Air Force 2nd Bomb Wing. The Ramp Rat as we called her was a meticulously clean aircraft who achieved a streak of over 100 on time take-offs during my time crewing her. She was a very dependable aircraft and even survived an apu fire while deployed to the Tanker Task Force operation in Hawaii in the mid 80's. Continue the great work and best of luck to 57-1461
