NOAA OMAO Civilian Position Information

NOAA Shore-base Civilian Positions:

NOAA OMAO employs a number of civilians to work at one of the two Marine Operations Centers and at the smaller port offices that assist the MOCs. Positions involve the performance of a number of duties including contracting, facility maintenance, administration, procurement, ship engineering, and IT.

Entry-Level Ship Position:

General Vessel Assistant (GVA) is the entry-level position for all departments. GVA is equivalent to Ordinary Seaman, Ordinary Fisherman, when assigned to the deck department and Wiper, when assigned to the engineering department.
