Applying for a Visa
To apply for a non-immigrant visa to the United States, please follow these steps:
- Gather Necessary Documents: See the General Documentation Requirements.
- Valid Passport
- Non-immigrant Visa Application Form (DS-160) - Schedule An Appointment
After you have completed your application, you can schedule an interview appointment by clicking here. Students who are unable to schedule a timely appointment are welcome to send an email to KabulNIV@State.gov - Pay The $160 Non-Refundable Application Fee
Bring $160 in cash (U.S. Dollars only) to your interview. You will pay this fee to the U.S. Embassy cashier in the Consular Section's waiting room. No other fees are required. If anyone asks you to pay additional fees in relation to your application, please tell an officer at the time of your interview. The application fee will not be refunded if your visa application is denied. - Interview With A Consular Officer
A Consular Officer will interview you to determine if you are eligible for the class of visa for which you are applying.
