Multimedia & Visual Information Studio

The Multimedia and Visual Information Studio operates the Department of Army Photo Labs and Hawaii Army Cable Network (HACN) or TV2. It falls under the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS).

U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii's Visual Information Studio oversees the garrison's two Department of the Army photo labs: Schofield Barracks at 808-655-1905 and Fort Shafter at 808-438-7532. The photo labs provide support for:

  • Official DA photos.
    To approve and print official DA photos, visit https://knoxhrc.16.hrc.army.mil/dapmis/ and click "Information."
  • Command photos
  • Passport and Visa photos
  • Location photography

Scheduling Official Photos

Soldiers and civilians needing official photos must schedule an appointment at https://www.vios-west.army.mil. Do not call to schedule an appointment. Staff will be unable to assist.


Preparing for an Official Photo

The following resources will help you prepare for having your official Department of the Army photo taken.

Soldiers should refer to AR 670-1 Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms or AR 640-30 Photographs for Military Personnel Files for additional information.

TV2 is the commander’s cable access television channel that provides the latest news on installation events, agencies, services and happenings. TV2 also features various Pentagon Channel programs, and other military-produced video packages from Hawaii, the Pacific region and worldwide. The channel provides command information such as local weather information, emergency preparedness tips, severe weather updates and safety information. It also features a crawler to provide the latest updates in case of emergency.

The Visual Information Studio provides audio and video support. Units can request coverage or check out equipment. All requests must be submitted using the DA 2903, Multi-media/Visual Information Work Order or DA 1687, Delegation of Authority, forms available at http://www.vios-west.army.mil. The first time you use the system, you will have to register.

Electronic Bulletin

The Bulletin is a series of PowerPoint slides advertising upcoming events, important news and other information. The most current slideshow is available below or online at Slideshare. Slideshows are updated every Monday, as needed.

The Department of the Army Photo Labs are open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Closed daily for lunch, 12-1 p.m. and all federal holidays.
