Each and every dollar the federal government spends represents the hard work of our American taxpayers. This is your money, and the government owes it to you to spend it wisely.
Congress needs fiscal sanity, plain and simple. While we are making headway with historic cuts to wasteful government spending, a Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) will hold Washington accountable, and I strongly support one.
Families and businesses across Florida and the nation know how to plan and make ends meet and expect Congress to be able to the same. I agree with them.
Furthermore, we must continue to pursue common-sense reforms such as “rainy day spending,” sunsetting provisions, and increased transparency for earmarks. We have already passed legislation in the House which promotes each one of these reforms, representing important victories for the American taxpayer. Now we must remain focused and work together to continue to improve the way in which our government manages our taxpayers dollars.
