"Close Quarters"


The 282nd Army Rock Band "Close Quarters" provides a mixture of popular rock and country music covering artists from the 1970s through today. You can expect performances with showmanship and high energy to entertain crowds of all ages. "Close Quarters" typically performs at high schools, colleges, music fests, and Army recruiting events throughout the Southeast. If you are interested in having "Close Quarters" perform for your event, please contact our operations department or use the information provided on the home page of this website. "Close Quarters" also uses alot of professional gear such as lighting and sound equipment during their shows, please check out the provided tech rider under the downloads section to get an idea of what kind of venue and power requirements are needed for this band to perform.

282nd Rock Band "Close Quarters"
Concert Band

The 282nd Concert band presents a powerful and diverse program of overtures, popular music, instrumental solos, patriotic music and marches. The concert band performs numerous public concerts, official military functions, patriotic events, cultural celebrations and school concerts through the local community and the great Southeastern United States.

Ceremonial Band (Marching Band)

The 282nd Marching Band is the primary ceremonial performing group in the band and is perfect for military and civilian parades and ceremonies. The marching band has over 200 performances annually, and plays for over 300,000 people from all over the country and is one of the most visible military bands in any branch of the armed forces.

Brass Quintet

The Brass Quintet is the premier small ensemble from the 282nd Army Band. In addition to supporting a wide variety of military ceremonies and evening social events, the Brass Quintet regularly performs concerts in the community and at high schools and universities. Musical versatility is a must, with repertoire ranging from standard brass quintet literature and classical transcriptions to patriotic and jazz arrangements. Members of the Brass Quintet have attended some of the finest music schools in the country.

Jazz Combo

"Groove Sophisticate" The 282ND Army Jazz Combo “Groove Sophisticate“ provides a mixture of jazz from the 1920’s through today. One of the most requested groups from the 282nd Army Band, “Groove Sophisticate” can provide that unique combination of contemporary, soul, swing and cool, that is right for nearly any occasion. “Groove Sophisticate” typically performs at festivals, colleges, formal dinners, social events, celebrations and Army recruiting events throughout the Southeast. If you are interested in having “Groove Sophisticate” perform for your event, please contact our Operations department or click on the request link provided by this website.

Jazz Combo
Woodwind Ensemble

The Woodwind Quartet is one of many small ensembles whose members are drawn from the musicians that make up The 282nd Army Band. The quartet performs music ranging from Mozart to Mancini for concerts and clinics at local school band programs and Fort Jackson prayer breakfasts and ceremonies.
