1st Battalion, Western Sector, USMEPCOM

The 1st Battalion commander also serves as the commander of the Minneapolis Military Entrance Processing Station and is responsible for the command and control of the Des Moines, Fargo, Minneapolis, Omaha and Sioux Falls Military Entrance Processing Stations. USMEPCOM established battalions on April 15, 2011, to bring the command in line with established military standards for command span of control, to facilitate stronger mentoring for MEPS commanders and senior enlisted advisors, and to improve coordination and cooperation between USMEPCOM and the Interservice Recruiting Committees.
