The agency was ranked second for innovation among 54 small federal government agencies, based on the 2011 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey conducted by the Office of Personnel Management, and is honored to receive such a distinction.
- A new study from Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers, best known as CGIAR, finds that African farmers are adapting their practices to withstand climate stresses. For example, 55 percent of households have taken up at least one shorter-cycle crop variety, and 56 percent adopted at least one drought tolerant crop variety. - A field in Mexico uses a drip tape irrigation system provided by Wade Rain Inc., a small business based in Tualatin, Oregon. Wade Rain's Mexican subsidiary sells irrigation equipment -- most of it manufactured in the U.S. -- to small farms ...in central Mexico and has helped introduce more efficient irrigation technologies such as drip tape, in which long lines of crops are watered with a flat kind of hose with multiple holes.
