Qualifying for Emergency/Expedited Appointments 

Due to the volume of non-immigrant visa appointments, we are able to grant emergency/expedited appointments only under the following conditions:

1. Legitimate, emergency business travel - The travel must be of an urgent and compelling nature. Your request should include the following: why the travel is urgent, the impact to the organization/business if this individual cannot travel on the date desired, and why this is the only person who can attend this event.

2. Medical Emergencies - Only the patient and one (1) immediate family member with a letter from the hospital are authorized to apply for the appointment.

3. Funerals - Immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling) of the deceased with a copy of the death certificate or letter from a funeral home may apply for an expedited appointment.

4. Students and Exchange Visitors - F1, M-1 and J-1 visa applicants who will pursue a full course of study in the United States. A vaild I-20 or DS-2019 is required.

5. U.S. Embassy Employees - U.S. Embassy employees and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, unmarried children under 21) traveling to the U.S. for business or pleasure.
