Visa Wait Times

Applicants should submit visa applications at least three months before they intend to travel to the United States. The average wait time for an interview is three to ten days from the date of application submission. During the summer when demand is greatest, the appointment wait time may increase significantly. In addition, administrative processing requirements following the interview may increase the amount of time a successful applicant will wait before receiving a visa. Administrative processing is an integral part of the visa adjudication and issuance process that can be neither waived nor expedited. The U.S. Embassy Consular Section accepts no responsibility if you make travel reservations before you have received your visa. We are not able to expedite visa processing because you have fixed travel dates or have already purchased a ticket.

Please do not send or have sponsors send any documents directly to the Embassy before the appointment. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to match up faxed or mailed correspondence with applications.

U.S. and Pakistani Holidays

The nonimmigrant visa section will be closed on Pakistani and U.S. holidays. Nonimmigrant visa applicants will not be interviewed on these dates. Applicants should plan accordingly. Please see the Embassy's holiday schedule for more details.
