Standing Room Only at ‘Sharing an Island’ Film Debuts

Audiences packed theatres in Limassol and Nicosia for the debut screenings of a new documentary film by young producer/director Danae Stylianou.
Appropriately entitled "Sharing an Island", the film captures the experience of three Greek Cypriots and three Turkish Cypriots who meet for the first time, having agreed to share a house for five days.

Appropriately entitled "Sharing an Island", the film captures the experience of three Greek Cypriots and three Turkish Cypriots who meet for the first time, having agreed to share a house for five days. The film follows Bahire, Despina, Ilke, Sertunc, Stephanie and Yiorgos on their journeys across the island and within themselves as they confront history, discuss the past and envision the future.

 

"Sharing an Island" was screened at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol on June 24 and at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia on June 29.

The film was made possible with funding from USAID through the UNDP Action for Cooperation and Trust (UNDP ACT) program's Engage—Do Your Part for Peace initiative and Youth Activism Project. The film also received support from the Municipality of Limassol, the Cyprus Youth Board and the Limassol Cooperative Savings Bank.
