NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- The Navy Warfare Development Command (NWDC) announced the release of a tactical memorandum (TACMEMO) Dec. 19 addressing "Command and Control of Air Operations in Maritime Surface Warfare (C2-AOMSW)."
The memo presents emerging concepts in command and control and/or coordination of air operations in support of maritime surface warfare.
In the near term, the TACMEMO will provide a ready reference for force providers, deploying forces, force trainers, and force employers to meet commander, U.S. Central Command theater-specific operational requirements. Longer term, it will serve as the basis to determine whether the tactics, techniques, and procedures presented are effective, fill a Navy-wide doctrinal gap, and are worthy for incorporation into the Navy doctrinal library.
The TACMEMO also provides a summary of commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet's Maritime Air Support Operations Center, describes and defines commander, U.S. 5th Fleet's Dynamic Air Resource Coordination Center, and provides an evaluation plan for determining the applicability of both to meet Navy-wide requirements.
Produced in coordination with 5th and 7th Fleets, Strike Force Training Pacific and Strike Force Training Atlantic, the TACMEMO 3-30.1-12, can be found on the Navy Doctrine Library System SIPRNET site at http://ndls.nwdc.navy.smil.mil.
