The WTB (WTB) began use of ULS for the Amateur services on August 16, 1999, and described the procedures for station and operator licensing in the Amateur Radio Services using ULS in a PUBLIC NOTICE released in July 1999. In that PUBLIC NOTICE, the WTB provided a 6-month transition period during which pre-ULS forms would still be accepted. That transition period ends at midnight on February 16, 2000, at which time the Bureau will no longer accept filings made on pre-ULS Forms 610 and 610V.

WTB Clarifies Responsibilities of Paging Licensees Filing Renewal Applications
The Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA) has asked that the Bureau clarify certain matters regarding the renewal of licenses in the Part 22 Paging and Radiotelephone Service (Paging). Over 5,000 Paging licenses, many of which are held by PCIA members, are due to expire on April 1, 1999, requiring renewal applications to be filed by that date. These 5,000 Paging licenses include over 30,000 transmitter sites, each with technical data residing in the Bureau's Universal Licensing System (ULS). Specifically, PCIA asks the Bureau to clarify whether Paging licensees, by signing their renewal applications, are certifying that all licensing information in the ULS relating to their licenses is complete and accurate.
