Command Sergeant Major Derrick T. Simpson



 Command Sgt. Maj. Derrick T. Simpson assumed duties as Command Sergeant Major of U.S. Army  Garrison, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, April 28, 2011. Immediately prior to this assignment he served as  the command sergeant major of the 70th Training Division Fort Knox, Kentucky.

 CSM Simpson, a native of Los Angeles, California. He entered the U.S. Army in July 1980 entering Basic  Combat Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and graduated advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia  as a Prescribe Load List Clerk (76Y). CSM Simpson left the Army and joined the Army Reserves for five  years before joining the Active Guard Reserve Program.

 CSM Simpson overseas assignments include HHC 2nd Armor Division FWD, Garlstedt, Germany; 19th CMMC Wiesbaden, Germany; and the Republic of Iraq.

CSM Simpson stateside assignments include 420th Engineer Brigade Bryan, Texas; 352ND Corps Support Battalion Macon, Georgia; 311TH Corps Support Command Los Angeles, California; 19TH Material Management Center, Fort Snelling, Minnesota; 1152 Transportation CO, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion, Los Angeles, California; 304TH Material Management Center, Los Angeles, California; A CO, 1st/50th Infantry 2nd ARMOR Division Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Simpson has held a variety of positions from unit PLL Clerk to Senior Supply Supervisor and leadership positions from Squad Leader to Command Sergeant Major. CSM Simpson's military education includes the Automated Logistical Specialist Course, Standard Army Intermediate Level Supply System (SAILS ABX) Army Basic Recruiter Course, Army Global Command and Control System (AGCCS), Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARSS 2AD/2AC/2B) Course, Logistic Management Course, Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE), the United States Army's Sergeants Major Academy, Command Sergeants Major Course, and Garrison Command Sergeants Major Course.

CSM Simpson's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Reserve Components Achievements Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hour glass w/M Device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon( with numeral 4); Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Recruiter Badge, Combat Action Badge.
