Summary:
FMCSA eliminates the
requirement for drivers operating
intermodal equipment (IME) to
submit—and intermodal equipment
providers (IEPs) to retain—drivervehicle
inspection reports (DVIRs) when
the driver has neither found nor been
made aware of any defects in the IME.
This responds to a joint petition for
rulemaking from the Ocean Carrier
Equipment Management Association
(OCEMA) and the Institute of
International Container Lessors (IICL).
