Directorate of Installation Safety
The Directorate of Installation Safety provides safety guidance for the Army in Hawaii. DIS is mission-oriented, proactive, responsive and relevant, with a safety program that guarantees a legacy of excellence throughout the Army. DIS supports U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, the 25th Infantry Division, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, U.S. Army-Pacific and all other tenant organizations on the garrison.
What does DIS do?
- Advise and assist the commander in sustaining his/her safety program.
- Monitor installation and unit compliance with OSHA policy.
- Conduct safety surveys/inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and policies.
- Educate and train Soldiers and civilian workers in risk management.
- Promote Personally Owned Vehicles (POV) and motorcycle safety through training and awareness programs.
- Provide safety oversight for port/rail/air/convoy operations.
- Conduct accident investigations.
- Provide safety oversight for all installation operations.
