Samuel Krinsky

NSLS-II Accelerator Physics Group Leader

After working at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at SUNY at Stony Brook and the BNL Physics Department on the theory of phase transitions, he joined the NSLS in 1977, where he was responsible for the design and commissioning of the NSLS X-Ray storage ring. He has served as Deputy Chair of the NSLS since 1985 and the head of the Accelerator R&D group since 1989.

Dr. Krinsky's research interests are in the areas of particle beam dynamics, undulators and wigglers as sources of radiation, and the theory of free electron lasers.

In 1989, he shared an R&D 100 Award for the development of a Global Orbit Feedback System, and in 1994, he received the BNL Distinguished Research Award.
