Research Project: ASSESSING AGRICULTURAL BURNING AND BLACK CARBON EMISSIONS IN RUSSIA USING REMOTE SENSING APPROACHES

Location: Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory

Project Number: 1245-12660-013-17
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 06, 2012
End Date: Aug 30, 2013

Objective:
The objective of this agreement is to develop methods to map burn area associated with agricultural fields in Russia and to assess emissions of black carbon from agricultural burning.

Approach:
ARS will meet with operational agencies to determine science needs and acquire remotely sensed data. Both parties will jointly determine the best approach for processing remotely sensed data and integrating in situ information. The cooperator will implement the agreed upon approach and both parties will analyze and present study results.
