FRG Leader Certification Course Training

The Family Readiness Group (FRG) Course is provided by the Army Community Service, Mobilization and Deployment Program.  The training is available for all FRG members and is offered once a month. the following classes are required to receive a FRG Leader Certificate:

Homecoming/Reunion Training

The Homecoming/Reunion classes are designed to help soldiers and their family transition from deployment to reunion by maximizing the positive aspects of reunion. Preparation is the key to a smooth transition into reintegration of soldier and family.

Participants are required to call and sign up for the class; classes fill up at 100. Unit FRG registrations are welcome. Arrangements can be made for child care through CYS; the family member must make arrangements for the day/time they will be attending the class.

Stroller off Stress

Stroller off Stress is a class designed for parents who have little ones and want to get back in shape. Parents can bring their babies to the gym with them while they get a great workout. All children must stay in their strollers at all times. Strength, endurance, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility are all incorporated in this six-week session, all for just $55 or two payments of $27.50.

Classes will be held at Soto Gym from 10-11 a.m. every Monday and Friday from October 29-December 6. Register at the Soto Gym or Stout Gym  juice bar by October 27.

ACS Community Overview

Learn about Army Community Service resources and what the program offers to the community during the ACS Community Overview.  Sessions will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Family Resilience Center, Bldg. 250 Club Road, on the following dates:

ACS Resilience Training

Are you a tennis ball or an egg? Do you bounce back or do you crack? Learn to bounce back when the stressors of everyday life start getting you down by attending the ACS Resilience Training. The training will enhance your effectiveness and well-being by teaching you the skills to build mental toughness, learn what your character strengths are, build strong relationships, and lastly how to hunt the good stuff, focusing on the positive rather than the negative.

Upcoming sessions include:

  • Monday, November 13-Thursday, November 16 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Monday, January 28-Wednesday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Active Military Families Resilience Training

Learn to bounce back from whatever life throws your way with the Active Military Families Resilience Training offered by Army Community Service. The next training is scheduled from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17.

Active Military Families Resilience Training is offered to families with children ages 3-12 and will take place at the Family Resilience Center, Bldg. 250 Club Road on main post. Registration is now open at www.blissmwr.com/resilience and is limited to the first 10 families to enroll.

Unit funds packets due November 30

Attention, all permanent units on Fort Bliss: It's that time of year again ... It's time for units to receive their MWR funds for fiscal 2013.

To receive fiscal 2013 funds, all units on Fort Bliss need to turn in the following items, between Wednesday, October 3 and Friday, November 30:

  • DA Form 1687 (signature card)
  • Assumption of command orders
  • A numbered alpha roster

Completed packets must be turned in to the Unit Funds office at the Soldier Activity Center, Bldg. 20732 Constitution Blvd. on East Fort Bliss. No incomplete packets will be accepted.

If you received MWR funds during fiscal 2012, you need to spend them before Sunday, September 30 or you will lose that funding.

New CYSS fees effective October 1

As mandated by the Department of Defense Child Care Fee Policy, a new fee structure will be implemented by Fort Bliss Child, Youth and School Services effective Monday, October 1. Before- and after-school program enrollment open

Enrollment for Child, Youth and School Services' before- and after-school programs is now open for Bliss School-Age Center, Milam School-Age Center and Logan School-Age Center.

Each school-age center provides a nationally accredited before-school program from 5:30 a.m. until the first school bell rings, and an after-school program from dismissal bell until 6 p.m. As an extra benefit to regular users from September-May, your child's school-out days, field trips, breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are always inclusive - it makes your child care budgeting hassle-free!

If your child is already registered with Fort Bliss CYSS, you can enroll at any school-age center during regular business hours. School-age centers are open from 5:30-8:30 a.m. and 2-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Parents may also enroll their students at Parent Central Services from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Bliss School-Age Center, located at Bldg. 2012 Sheridan Road, escorts to and from Bliss Elementary School, and transports to and from Hughey Elementary School, and to Ross Middle School (before-school service only). Learn more by calling (915) 568-2178.

Logan School-Age Center, located at Bldg. 3505 Ellerthorpe Ave. in the Logan Heights housing area, escorts to and from Logan Elementary, and will transport to and from Colin Powell, Burnett, Travis and Our Lady of Assumption elementary schools.

Milam School-Age Center, Bldg. 11898 Haan Road on East Fort Bliss, will escort to and from Milam Elementary and transport to Ross Middle School (before-school service only). Milam SAC is the host site for Socorro Independent School District school-out days.

Before and after-school program fees are based upon total family income and range from $46 to $296 per month. Advance payments are required for each month. CYSS offers multiple child discounts of 20 percent for siblings in regular care at either Child Development Services or School-Age Services, or with a Family Child Care Provider!

Baby Bubble Hour

Baby Bubble Hour offers children ages 4 and under a chance to enjoy the water in a peaceful setting. No older children, including older siblings, are allowed in the water during this time. An open swim hour for toddlers, Baby Bubble Hour is held every Saturday from 8:30-10 a.m. at Replica Aquatic Center, Bldg. 5035 Dickman Road on Fort Bliss. For more information, call 568-7431.
