Notarial Services
Notarial services are available to all U.S. citizens and to foreign nationals for documents destined to be used in the United States. Notarial services are executed by Consular officers and may include documents to be signed before them, statements made under oath, powers of attorney, affidavits and acknowledgments.
The notarial service, located within the American Citizens Services (ACS) office of the U.S. Consulate General at Paseo de la Victoria #3650 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, is available from 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday, except on Mexican and American holidays.
To have a document notarized, you must come in person with the following documents:
- An official photo ID issued by a government agency in the U.S. or a Mexican Credencial de Elector;
- The document(s) to be notarized;
- The cost for a notarial is $50 USD per seal.
- To ensure you understand the document, a translation might be requested by the officer;
- If your document needs to be witnessed, please bring your witness (es) with you.
Because the U.S. and Mexico are parties to the Hague Convention on the Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, there is an alternative to obtain notarial services for Mexican-origin documents destined for use in the U.S. This notarization procedure is called an Apostille, and this is a service provided by the Mexican government. The Apostille process legalizes Mexican documents for use in the United States.
