Locations
The Walla Walla VAMC serves veterans from a 15-county area in the tri-state area that includes Southeastern Washington, Northeastern Oregon and Central-western Idaho.  In addition to our main medical center in Walla Walla, we offer a primary care services to our patients in community-based outpatient clinics at Richland and Yakima, Washington, La Grande, Oregon, and Lewiston, Idaho.  The Walla Walla VA also has a contract VA Clinic in Grangeville, Idaho.

Waiting Areas 
For your convenience and safety, we have waiting areas throughout the facility. We ask that you do not gather in the hallways or at any of the nurse's stations. We have volunteers who work throughout the facility at varying times. If you need assistance, you may ask a volunteer to assist you.

Meals/Veterans Canteen Service 
Meals are served for inpatients in the Patient Dining Room, Building 80, from 6:45 am to 8:00 am, 11:45 am to 1:00 pm and 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm.

The Canteen, located in Building 75, consists of a small retail store and cafeteria.  Hours of operation for the cafeteria are Mon-Fri, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm.  Breakfast service ends at 10:00 am and lunch service ends at 2:00 pm. The retail store is open Mon-Fri, 9:00 am – 2:30 pm.

Security
The Walla Walla VAMC has a Police Service. Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots.

  • For general police assistance, please dial ext. 22534 from any phone.

  • In case of an emergency, dial ext. 22222, again from any phone.

  • Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible. 

Because the VA Medical Center is federal property; know that all persons and bags are subject to search at any time. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted anywhere on the VA grounds.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found is located in Bldg. 74, Room 166, near the Outpatient Front Desk. You may also contact them at extension 22780.

Chapel/Chaplain’s Services
A nondenominational chapel is located in Building T-7 at the Walla Walla VAMC.  Worship services are held every Sunday morning at 9:00 am and are broadcast by closed circuit radio to all RRU beds at the medical center.  Spiritual recovery classes are held on Monday evenings at 5:45 pm.  The Chapel is open everyday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm for prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection.  The Chaplain can also be reached by calling ext. 22540.

Benefits Counselors
Veterans benefits counselors are assigned to Walla Walla VAMC to assist you in matters concerning VA benefits such as compensation, pension, government insurance, education, loans, vocational rehabilitation, etc.  The office is open Tues-Thurs from 9 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm in Building 77, Room 113.  You can also call the office at (509) 526-6240.

Library
The Medical Center Library is located in Building 80 and is open from 8:15 am – 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday.  The library has large print books, books on tape and paperbacks available for checkout.  Nurses, unit secretaries, and recreational therapists may request these items from the library.  Consumer health information is also available through the library for patients and family members.

Notary Services
There are notary services are available on the VA campus for any patient or visitor.  Please ask desk personnel or any employee to assist you in locating a licensed notary.  The Executive Office, Ext. 22450, also has a list of personnel certified to perform Notary duties.  They are generally available Mon-Fri from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Mail
Mail for residents of the RRU program will be delivered directly to them.  All mail received after being discharged will be forwarded to the home address of record upon discharge. 

Mail sent to a patient in the RRU unit should be addressed as follows:

Pharmacy 
The Walla Walla VAMC Pharmacy distributes all prescribed medication.  Upon discharge from the RRU, the nursing staff will arrange for your medications to be picked up at the Outpatient Pharmacy window on the first floor of Building 74, Ambulatory Care, from 8:15 am - 5:15 pm (CLOSED for lunch 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm).
