Online availability of Significant Permit Revision for Navajo Mine, Navajo Reservation, New Mexico
OSM's Program Support Division has received a significant revision application on Indian lands permitted under the permanent program performance standards for BHP Navajo Coal Company's (BNCC’s) Navajo Mine. The application proposes development of approximately 800 acres in Area IV North of the BNCC lease in order to meet contractual obligations for the Four Corners Generating Station through July 2016.

Online availability of Revised Significant Permit Revision for Navajo Mine, Navajo Reservation, New Mexico
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) has received a submittal dated September 25, 2011, from BHP Navajo Coal Company (BNCC) responding to technical deficiencies OSM had previously identified in its review of BNCC’s February 15, 2011, revised Area IV North permit revision application for the Navajo Mine (Area IV North Documents listed above). The September 25, 2011 material is provided below.

Additional Revisions to Area IV North Documents
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) has received 2 submittals dated November 17th and December 13th from BHP Navajo Coal Company (BNCC) responding to technical deficiencies OSM had previously identified in its review of BNCC's September 25th, 2011, revised Area IV North permit revision application for the Navajo Mine (Area IV North Documents listed above). The November 17th and December 13th material is provided below. In addition, OSM received two letters from BNCC regarding proposed enhancements to its Hydrologic Monitoring Plan. Those letters are dated January 31, 2012 and March 6, 2012. Those letters are also provided below.

Environmental Assessment and Finding No Significant Impact for Navajo Mine, Navajo Reservation, New Mexico
The U.S. Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) announces the availability of an Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared for a permit revision application proposing to revise the mining operations in Area IV North of the mine and to relocate 5.2 miles of the Burnham Road to the east away from the mine operations to improve safety and public access to adjacent communities. OSM provided the EA for public review and comment from December 1, 20121 through January 17, 2012. During that comment period OSM received public comments. The EA has been modified with editorial changes. NO technical changes were made to the EA. OSM is posting this EA as a final EA.
