NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS

The Embassy of the United States of America in Guatemala is transitioning to a new appointment service for nonimmigrant visa applicants. This new system is being implemented throughout Central America, and is expected to be easier and more convenient.

  • All services-- including calling for information, scheduling an appointment, and passport pickup at the Cargo Expreso office of the traveler’s choice--will be provided for a single fee.
  • Applicants will no longer pay for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to schedule an appointment.
  • Effective Friday, April 27, 2012: Applicants in Guatemala can either visit the new online scheduling website http://www.ustraveldocs.com/gt or contact the call center at 502-2470-0888 to get information or to start their application for a U.S. visa.
  • Applicants will be able to pay on-line via credit card, rather than having to visit a Citibank or Banrural office in person. However, the in-person option remains available for those who prefer to pay in that manner.

Those who prefer not to make their appointment online should call 502-2470-0888, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 7 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Callers in the United States should call (646) 259-0557 Monday through Friday, 8 am to 7 pm Central time and on Saturdays, 9 am to 3 pm Central time.

These services are the only official sources of general visa information from the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala and provide the only means of scheduling a personal interview for a nonimmigrant visa.

Lost or Stolen Visas

If your passport containing a U.S. visa has been lost or stolen in Guatemala, you must report the loss or theft to the Public Ministry or the Guatemala National Police as soon as possible. The police or Public Ministry will issue a report documenting the loss or theft. A copy of this report, including your full name and date of birth, must be sent to GuatemalaFPM@state.gov or faxed to (502)-2326-4674 as soon as possible. If the loss or theft took place abroad, you will also need to submit in this same email a copy of the report you filed in that country.

As soon as the Consular Section receives this report, the visa will be reported as lost/stolen in U.S. Government databases, which will alert officials at all ports of entry into the United States. Once the visa has been reported lost/stolen, neither you nor anyone else will be able to use it again in the event that your passport is subsequently found. If you wish to obtain another visa, you will need to reapply and bring a copy of the previously submitted police report to your interview appointment.
