Ambassador Kounalakis delivers her speech

Ambassador Kounalakis spoke out for tolerance at a ceremony held in the Budapest Holocaust Memorial Center on January 27 the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The ceremony celebrated the launch of a new Hungarian-language book on tolerance entitled "Egy / Másért" (For Each Other).

In concert with this publication, to which the Embassy contributed, the Ambassador cited the founding of the Southern Poverty Law Center to demonstrate how a few courageous individuals were able to advance dramatically the Civil Rights movement in the United States. In her speech, she reaffirmed the United States’ and Hungary’s strong partnership and commitment to promoting tolerance. The Ambassador also emphasized that the fight against intolerance never ends and that we all have a collective obligation to teach future generations the lessons of the Holocaust.
