Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates

The Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program of the Bureau of Labor Statistics produces monthly and annual employment, unemployment, and labor force data for Census regions and divisions, States, counties, metropolitan areas, and many cities. The "Percent Unemployed" maps show annual average unemployment rates by county. The unemployment rate represents the number unemployed as a percent of the labor force.

The U.S. Census Bureau's Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) program provides annual estimates of income and poverty statistics for all school districts, counties, and states. The "Percent in Poverty" maps represent the number of people whose family income falls below the federal poverty threshold as a percent of the total population, by county.
