The Natural Resources Section provides legal advice to the National Marine Fisheries Service and the National Ocean Service, and seeks monetary restitution from responsible parties for injuries caused to our Nation’s natural resources by releases of hazardous substances from thousands of waste sites, numerous oil spills, and physical impacts (e.g., vessel groundings) to unique resources located in National Marine Sanctuaries. The Section has fourteen attorneys, a program coordinator, one paralegal, and three support staff. The head of the office is Craig O’Connor, Section Chief and Special Counsel, who is located in the Northwest Office.
