As the primary action arm of the SECAF inspection system, AFIA provides independent, timely inspections and facilitates process improvement and integration to advance readiness, compliance and efficiency for the Air Force.

tabProcess Integration and Improvement Directorate  
The Process Integration and Improvement Directorate conducts assessments focused on improving processes to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Air Force. Independent teams of subject matter experts collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to identify systemic problems, produce actionable solutions and develop a culture of continuous process improvement within the Air Force.
tabMedical Operations Directorate 
The Medical Operations Directorate performs Health Services Inspections of all active duty, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard medical units worldwide in partnership with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
tabOversight and Evaluations Directorate  
The Oversight and Evaluations Directorate is responsible for oversight of all Air Force nuclear surety inspections. NSI oversight is accomplished when MAJCOMs conduct NSIs and joint NSIs. Additionally, oversight assessment teams accompany the Defense Threat Reduction Agency as the Air Force representative during Defense NSIs.
tabTraining and Inspections Directorate  
The Training and Inspections Directorate schedules, coordinates and executes compliance inspections of field operating agencies and directs reporting units. TI oversees Air Force nuclear surety inspections and ensures all inspectors in the Air Force are trained to an established standard.
tabMission Support Directorate 
The Mission Support Directorate administers the infrastructure for AFIA and manages the personnel, information systems, logistics and internal resources to ensure inspectors have the knowledge and equipment to conduct assessments.
tabTIG Brief Magazine Staff 
TIG Brief Magazine Staff produces TIG Brief, which provides authoritative guidance and information to commanders, inspectors general, inspectors and other Air Force leaders at all levels of command. The staff, a part of the Public Affairs Division, falls under the Command Section.
